Enemalta is striving to encourage more girls to pursue careers in electrical and technical engineering, in a bid to address the low number of women engineers and technicians.

During a visit by Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Sustainable Development Miriam Dalli at Enemalta, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Enemalta CEO Jason Vella said the company was committed to attract more women to the sector. Minister Dalli had the opportunity to meet with the engineers who have strategic responsibilities at Enemalta.

Expressing their satisfaction at having embarked on a career in engineering, Engineers Gaynor Azzopardi, Daniela Camilleri and Analizia Balzan spoke of their various responsibilities in various crucial sections of Enemalta, such as carrying out studies that are required before developing solar farms and the dispatch of the company’s resources.

Minister Miriam Dalli emphasised the importance of girls pursuing STEM careers and other careers that offer innovative employment opportunities. She alsp praised Enemalta's outreach initiatives to encourage more girls to pursue such careers, particularly through an initiative that Enemalta has embarked upon together with education authorities.

The course sees secondary level students visiting the Delimara generation plant and the Distribution Center in St Andrews. Following the visit, students are then asked to answer a series of questions related to the visit, through a booklet which has been prepared by Enemalta together with education officers.

L-Enemalta qiegħda tistinka biex tħajjar aktar tfajliet jaqbdu karrieri fl-inġinerija elettrika u f’oqsma tekniċi. Bħalissa hemm numru ferm żgħir ta’ inġiniera nisa u tekniċi li jaħdmu fis-settur.

Dan intqal mill-Kap Eżekuttiv tal-Enemalta l-Inġinier Jason Vella, meta fl-okkażjoni ta’ Jum il-Mara l-Ministru Miriam Dalli, li hija responsabbli għall-Enerġija, l-Intrapriża u l-Iżvilupp Sostenibbli, iltaqgħet mal-inġiniera nisa tal-Enemalta li għandhom responsabbiltajiet strateġiċi fl-Enemalta.

L-Inġiniera Gaynor Azzopardi, l-Inġiniera Daniela Camilleri u Analizia Balzan, waqt li spjegaw ir-responsabbiltajiet varji tagħhom f’diversi taqsimiet kruċjali tal-Enemalta, tkellmu dwar is-sodisfazzjon tagħhom li qabdu karriera fl-inġinerija u qed jagħmlu suċċess fil-karigi rispettivi tagħhom. Ix-xogħol tagħhom jinkludi fost oħrajn studji li jkunu meħtieġa qabel isiru solar farms u l-proċess tax-xiri tal-enerġija mill-interconnector, b’taħlita ma’ sorsi oħra tal-enerġija.

Il-Ministru Miriam Dalli saħqet dwar l-importanza li t-tfajliet ifittxu karrieri bħal mhi l-inġinerija elettrika u karrieri tekniċi oħra, li joffru opportunitajiet innovattivi ta’ impjiegi mhux biss mal-Enemalta iżda f’diversi oqsma tal-ekonomija.

Il-Ministru Dalli faħħret l-inizjattivi tal-Enemalta li qiegħda tagħmel outreach biex tħajjar aktar studenti bniet jaqbdu karrieri tekniċi inkluż fil-qasam tal-inġinerija.

Hija semmiet inizjattiva li l-Enemalta qiegħda tiżviluppa id f’id mal-awtoritajiet edukattivi, sabiex malli tgħaddi l-pandemija l-istudenti tas-sekondarja, speċjalment fil-lezzjonijiet tal-fiżika, jerġgħu jibdew iżuru l-impjanti tal-ġenerazzjoni fil-Power Station ta’ Delimara u ċ-Ċentru tad-Distribuzzjoni f’St Andrews, bl-istudenti jkunu mħeġġa wkoll iwieġbu sensiela ta’ mistoqsijiet relatati maż-żjara tagħhom fuq ktejjeb apposta li tħejja mill-Enemalta flimkien ma’ uffiċjali edukattivi.
